Revenge of the Nicknames

As you may recall, a few days ago I got some serious payback for the "Tootie" nickname I've given my mom. Well, I'm going to have to reconsider giving out nicknames like that to anyone, because now I've gotten my payback for calling my friend Amanda by the name of "Trippy."

Just a little background info: I gave her that name last fall when she went and tripped herself down a flight of stairs at her place of work (which wasn't that funny cause she was in a bit of pain) and then was feeling a bit trippy on her pain killers (which was pretty funny). She also tends to, um, trip herself on a regular basis. Sorry girl...you know I love ya!

Anyhow, I shouldn't tease her too much about that, because I took the trip of all trips over the weekend. Unfortunately, Amanda wasn't there to see it, though she should have been. She was busy getting her flirt on with an old friend, though. Can't blame her for that! ;-) We were at Liberty Memorial for the Memorial Day "Celebration at the Station." Amanda and I had a big blanket to sit on the grass, and our friend Kyle was there with us in his lawn chair. Like I said, Amanda was elsewhere for a long time, so she missed it. I told Kyle that I was going to throw away some trash, got up and walked a few feet toward the trash can, and before I knew what hit me I had completely wiped out. It was not very graceful. I'm blaming it on a very dangerous divet in the grass. Yeah. Anyhow, I landed nearly on top of this couple who were snuggling a bit too close to each other under their blanket. I also managed to knock over their cooler when I tried to get myself back up and slipped again. I looked back at Kyle and found him laughing, of course. After getting to the trash can, I took a different path to return to my blanket. Kyle asked me if I had a nice trip and said that he didn't think he'd see me again until next fall. Hardy-har-har. It was pretty funny, though. My ankle was a bit sore yesterday (I think I twisted it just a little), but I'm fine today. No need for painkillers. Darn!
