Unwelcome neighbor

In my previous post, I mentioned the spider(s) living outside the front door and my bravery with them. We all thought the really big spider that likes to hang out on our door was smashed by Brandon's shoe last night. Here's a picture I took of it last night before I cleaned it off the screen door:

Yes, I take pictures of odd things. See how big it was?

Well, Amanda and I just walked by our dining room window and discovered that the gargantuan spider, God rest his soul, has a friend. His friend is still alive and is just as large, if not larger. I tried to take a photo of it from inside the dining room. This is the best shot I could get:

Like its friend, this spider also likes our front window and is spinning a huge web near our doorstep. This disturbs me, especially considering that I have to use the front door to get in and out of the house. Not to mention the people who come over to visit who may not like facing that thing as they ring our doorbell.

I think this is the spider I tried to kill last night after it crawled near me as I was wiping its friend off our door. First I attempted to spray/kill it with Windex, but the wind just blew the spray back on me and made me smell lemon fresh. Not so effective. Then I went to get wasp spray (this is when Amanda and Janelle started observing my bravery) and sprayed the heck out of it. Guess what: wasp spray does not kill spiders. At all. It just managed to piss it off. And after seeing it outside our window tonight, apparently the spider has recovered fully from the wasp spray incident. I think the spray might have even made it grow larger. It's like a beast from a horror movie that only gets worse the more you try to attack it.

Janelle just came home, grabbed one of my shoes and walked outside to get it. But then she came back in after seeing how large it is and how dark it is outside. I think our plan of attack will have to wait until tomorrow. I'm sure I'll have me some sweet dreams about it tonight.
